Walton is 8-2 against South Walton since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Walton Braves will look to defend their home field against the South Walton Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. Walton will be strutting in after a victory while South Walton will be coming in after a defeat.
Walton will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Second Baptist on Friday. Everything went Walton's way against Second Baptist as Walton made off with an 11-1 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Braves as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Raina Pitts was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Pitts was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Walton let Chloe Bendure and Bailey Crowther run wild. Bendure went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double, while Crowther went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Crowther has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Peels, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Walton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, South Walton came up short against Donelson Christian Academy on Monday and fell 7-3.
South Walton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tatum Kreinus, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Walton's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for South Walton, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
South Walton's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Walton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for South Walton, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Walton keep running through batters, or will South Walton buck the trend?
