Volleyball Game Preview: Pomperaug Panthers vs. Bunnell Bulldogs

The Pomperaug Panthers will head out to challenge the Bunnell Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Pomperaug is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: Joel Barlow, who was ranked ninth at the time (Pomperaug was ranked 20th). The Panthers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons on Thursday. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

While Pomperaug ultimately came up short, they really made Joel Barlow work, particularly in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 23-25, 25-15, 26-24.

Meanwhile, Bunnell came up short against Newtown on Wednesday, falling 3-0. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Bunnell took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-8, 25-9, 25-18.

Pomperaug's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Bunnell, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.

Pomperaug took their win against Bunnell in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
