Softball Game Preview: Jemison Panthers vs. Billingsley Bears

The Jemison Panthers will square off against the Billingsley Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Jemison fell victim to Maplesville and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 15-0 to the Red Devils. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jemison saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Pate, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Even though they lost, Jemison hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Billingsley kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell 10-7 to Isabella.

Claire Seamon was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Jakayla Harris was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Jemison now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Billingsley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Jemison beat Billingsley 11-7 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will Jemison repeat their success, or does Billingsley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
