Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Griffin

Griffin hadn't done well against Jonesboro recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Griffin Bears narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Jonesboro Cardinals 59-57. This was a revenge game for the Bears: when they faced off against the Cardinals back in January, they had to take a 65-62 loss.

When it comes to explaining why Jonesboro lost, don't look at Tim Prather. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 17 en route to 22 points. Prather is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last four games he's played. Isaiah Turman was another key player, putting up eight points and eight rebounds.

The victory (which was Griffin's fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-8. As for Jonesboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-8.

Looking ahead, Griffin won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Baldwin at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Griffin is on a three-game streak of home wins, Baldwin a seven-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Jonesboro does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
