Basketball Recap: St. Andrew's Falls Despite Big Games from Avery Nein and Coco Carnahan

If St. Andrew was feeling good fresh off their 54-29 takedown of The Habersham School last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The St. Andrew's Lions took a 45-30 bruising from the Hilton Head Prep Dolphins on Tuesday. The Lions were not able to make up for their defeat to the Dolphins from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, St. Andrew's had strong showings from Coco Carnahan, who posted nine points and seven boards, and Avery Nein, who earned six points. The dominant performance also gave Nein a new career-high in assists (two).

Hilton Head Prep was led to victory by Courtney Campbell and Erin Cleary. Campbell had 17 points along with six assists and six boards, while Cleary went 7 of 13 on her way to 17 points and three steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Campbell has scored at least a third of Hilton Head Prep's points. Brooke Heins was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

St. Andrew's record is now 3-5. As for Hilton Head Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-5.

St. Andrew's will take on Savannah Christian in a holiday battle at at 12:30 p.m. on December 20th. As for Hilton Head Prep, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 48-39 defeat against Hilton Head Island on the 11th.
