Basketball Game Preview: Hastings Tigers vs. Elkhorn Antlers

Hastings is 0-5 against Elkhorn since January of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Hastings Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Elkhorn Antlers at 6:00 p.m.

Hastings is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday. They fell 38-29 to Northwest. The game was a 13-13 toss-up at halftime, but the Tigers couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Elkhorn entered their tilt with Ashland-Greenwood on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They claimed a resounding 61-33 victory over the Bluejays. Given the Antlers' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Bluejays are ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hastings' loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Elkhorn, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Hastings was dealt a bruising 58-26 defeat at the hands of Elkhorn in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Hastings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
