Baseball Recap: St. Francis De Sales Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

St. Francis de Sales barely beat Ottawa Hills the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights put the hurt on the Green Bears with a sharp 8-0 victory on Tuesday. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Conor Lutz looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Nick Hood was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of St. Francis de Sales' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Mitchey, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

St. Francis de Sales' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-9. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Ottawa Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-3.

Looking ahead, St. Francis de Sales will head out to face off against Perkins at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ottawa Hills, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bowling Green at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bobcats will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
