Recap: St. Mary's Pirates vs. Manitou Springs Mustangs
The St. Mary's Pirates waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They strolled past Manitou Springs with points to spare, taking the game 56-38. That result was just more of the same for these two, as St. Mary's also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
St. Mary's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaela Pedro, who scored 13 points along with four blocks and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maeve Salveson, who scored 16 points along with six steals.
St. Mary's pushed their record up to 7-1 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Manitou Springs, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
St. Mary's will look to defend their home court on Friday against James Irwin at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully James Irwin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 last Saturday. As for Manitou Springs, they will head out on the road to face off against Ellicott at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
