Softball Recap: Grantsville Takes Down Morgan in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Grantsville had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Morgan Trojans by a score of 11-6 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Cowboys in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won eight in a row.

Hayden Bytheway was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off 12 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Elise Smith was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Kamry Allen was another key player, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

Grantsville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Grantsville's win bumped their record up to 24-8. As for Morgan, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 19-7.

Grantsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Morgan, they will challenge Emery at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
