The Scott Skyhawks will challenge the Hurricane Redskins at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Scott is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Scott is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Logan, who was ranked 12th at the time (Scott was ranked 23rd). The Skyhawks walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Wildcats on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Skyhawks have beaten the Wildcats on their field since March 29, 2023.

Louden White made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jason Ferrell, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Nate Easterling also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Scott kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, Hurricane entered their tilt with St. Albans on Thursday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Red Dragons. The result was nothing new for the Redskins, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Scott has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hurricane, they pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Scott came out on top in a nail-biter against Hurricane in their previous meeting back in May of 2019, sneaking past 6-4. Do the Skyhawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Redskins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
