Recap: Hawthorne Cougars vs. Leuzinger Olympians
The Hawthorne Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Leuzinger, falling 83-34. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hawthorne in their matchups with Leuzinger: they've now lost four in a row.
Hawthorne's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alfredo Ramirez, who scored ten points. Gerardo Quinonez was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Hawthorne's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Leuzinger, they pushed their record up to 15-7 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hawthorne will take on Morningside at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Morningside has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 20. As for Leuzinger, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Centennial at 6:30 p.m. Centennial will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1118th, while Leuzinger is ranked 220th).
