Baseball Recap: Miller Grove Wins Going Away Against Avery

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Union Hill, Miller Grove was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Avery Bulldogs with a sharp 23-10 win. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Miller Grove got a massive performance out of Cage Hasten, who scored six runs and stole seven bases while getting on base in all six of his plate appearances. Hasten is becoming a predictor of the Hornets' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-11 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Kindle Fisher, who scored five runs and stole nine bases while getting on base in all six of his plate appearances.

Miller Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Miller Grove's win bumped their record up to 3-11. As for Avery, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9-1 record this season.

Miller Grove will venture away from home to square off against Leverett's Chapel at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Avery, they will challenge Bloomburg at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.71 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
