Football Preview: Hagerman Pirates vs. Oakley Hornets

Hagerman is 0-4 against Oakley since October of 2014 but things could change on Friday. The Hagerman Pirates will venture away from home to face off against the Oakley Hornets at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Hagerman's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Hagerman is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Rockland, who was ranked 13th in their home state at the time (Hagerman was ranked fifth). Hagerman breezed by Rockland at home to the tune of 78-6 on Friday. Considering the Pirates have won three matchups by more than 61 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Hagerman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Wyatt Mavencamp led the charge by throwing for 275 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Mavencamp is crushing it when it comes to passing touchdowns: he's passed for at least four every time he's taken the field this season. Kylan Kendall was Mavencamp's top target, picking up 159 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Hagerman's defense and their six sacks. Rockland's QB won't forget Alexander Johnson anytime soon given he sacked him four times.

Meanwhile, Oakley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Valley, falling 48-24.

Hagerman's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Oakley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
