Football Recap: Ashley Takes a Loss

Ashley was the 28-9 winner over West Brunswick when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Screaming Eagle fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 24-21 on Friday. The Screaming Eagle have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Although Ashley took the loss, they still got scores from Bryson Lovelace, Julian Morrison, and Jahbari Woodhouse.

While Ashley came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for West Brunswick: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 44.4%. The team can thank Tyson Hammonds for the heroic effort on defense: he. Ashley hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.33 or higher in three consecutive games.

Ashley's defense didn't let Josiah Borton, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Adrian Gaines and Oliver Hartzler, who each picked up 1.5 sacks apiece. Ashley got some further help from Gaines: he picked up 1.5 sacks and made 17 total tackles.

Ashley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for West Brunswick, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

Looking ahead, Ashley will challenge Hoggard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings' defense has only allowed 14.1 points per game this season, so the Screaming Eagle's offense will have their work cut out for them. West Brunswick does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
