Football Game Preview: Mission Veterans Memorial Patriots vs. Pioneer Diamondbacks

The Mission Veterans Memorial Patriots will venture away from home to challenge the Pioneer Diamondbacks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mission Veterans Memorial is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

On Friday, Mission Veterans Memorial made easy work of Roma and carried off a 40-14 win. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Roman Reyna produced another solid performance throwing for 237 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 73 yards and one TD on only seven carries. What's more, he racked up 115.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Mission Veterans Memorial's leading receiver Joey Hernandez was Reyna's top target yet again, picking up 78 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Meanwhile, Pioneer played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Sharyland 42-13. The contest marked the Diamondbacks' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Although Pioneer took the loss, they still got scores from Malakai Galindo and Alec Chapa.

Pioneer's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-3. As for Mission Veterans Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.

Mission Veterans Memorial couldn't quite finish off Pioneer in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 and fell 11-8. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
