Football Recap: Lewisburg Comes Up Short

Lewisburg extended their losing streak to seven on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-8. They lost 40-17 to the Horn Lake Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Eagles are ranked 19th).

Although Lewisburg took the loss, they still got scores from Will Butler and Cable Bearden.

As for Horn Lake, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Horn Lake was led to victory by Jason Edwards Jr and Isiah Mims. Edwards Jr threw for 224 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Mims rushed for 144 yards and one score while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Those 144 rushing yards gave Mims a new career-high. Horn Lake's leading receiver Jakevious Brooks was Edwards Jr's top target yet again, picking up 93 receiving yards and one TD.

Lewisburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Horn Lake, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 35-28 win against Madison Central on the 14th.
