Basketball Recap: Cooper Worley Key Part of a Team Effort in Patriots Win

State Line Christian lost to Faith Baptist back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The State Line Christian Patriots walked away with a 58-51 win over the Faith Baptist Eagle. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Eagle are ranked 312th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

State Line Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cooper Worley led the charge by putting up 20 points and eight boards. Those eight rebounds gave Worley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jackson Baumker, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 19 points.

Despite the loss, Faith Baptist still got an impressive performance from Zech Gartrelle, who posted 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Mack, who put up 13 points.

State Line Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Faith Baptist, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-4.

State Line Christian will welcome Lakecrest Baptist at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. State Line Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.9 points per game this season. As for Faith Baptist, they will venture away from home to face off against Rochester Hills Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
