Volleyball Recap: Pecos Eagles vs. Kermit Yellow Jackets

Pecos was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Kermit Yellow Jackets. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellow Jackets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Jerykah Velasquez paced Pecos' offense, picking up ten kills. Velasquez got some help from Brooke Garcia and her nine assists. Garcia was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Pecos' loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Kermit, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Pecos wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Caprock on the 16th. Kermit has also already played their next match (against Austin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
