Soccer Game Preview: Leigh vs. Willow Glen

The Leigh Longhorns will head out to square off against the Willow Glen Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Willow Glen took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Leigh, who comes in off a win.

Leigh will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Pioneer on Friday. Leigh walked away with a 4-2 victory over Pioneer. The result kept the Longhorns happy, as they haven't lost a game since December 4, 2024.

Meanwhile, Willow Glen came up short against Mt. Pleasant on Friday and fell 3-1. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 556th, while the Cardinals are ranked 192nd).

Leigh pushed their record up to 5-1-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 25 goals over those four matchups. As for Willow Glen, they now have a losing record at 3-4-2.

Leigh came out on top in a nail-biter against Willow Glen in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Leigh since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
