The Streetsboro Rockets will head out on the road to take on the Woodridge Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Streetsboro is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
While Streetsboro's victory against Norton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rockets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Panthers on Thursday.
The team relied heavily on Khloe Cutright, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Miller, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Woodridge had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over Coventry on Thursday. The Bulldogs not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27th (when they won 11-1).
Olivia Wagner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits.
On the hitting side, Sadie Honeck was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 13 matchups. Chelsey Taylor was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Streetsboro pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Woodridge, their victory bumped their record up to 4-15.
Woodridge's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Streetsboro has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .459. It's a different story for Woodridge, though, as they've only averaged .357. Will they be able to contain Streetsboro's hitters?
Streetsboro was able to grind out a solid win over Woodridge in their previous meeting on April 4th, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
