Basketball Game Preview: Williams Vikings vs. El Capitan Eagles

Williams and El Capitan are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Williams Vikings will get right back to it and host the El Capitan Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

El Capitan will be up against a hot Williams team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. Williams took down Ash Fork 63-44 on Thursday.

Meanwhile, El Capitan blew past Fredonia, posting a 70-30 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 26 points or more this season.

Williams better keep an eye on Jairus Hammon. He was instrumental in El Capitan's win, as he made all 8 shots he took for 22 points and four steals. Hammon continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryant Hammon, who went 5 of 10 en route to 13 points along with five assists and three steals.

El Capitan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.2 offensive boards per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 12.1.

Williams has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for El Capitan, their win bumped their record up to 9-11.
