Basketball Game Preview: Los Amigos Lobos vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

The Los Amigos Lobos will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Cleveland Cavaliers at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Friday, Los Amigos was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 54-49 to El Segundo. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Lobos came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Eagles are ranked 606th).

Meanwhile, Cleveland had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Pioneers 95-12. That looming 95-12 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cavaliers yet this season.

Cleveland's win came from a few key players Los Amigos will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kamari King, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Manzani, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 12 points and five assists.

Cleveland was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Cleveland has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for Los Amigos, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-5.
