Softball Recap: Make It Seven in a Row for La Grande

La Grande barely beat Gladstone the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. La Grande was the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over Gladstone on Friday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.

Carlee Strand spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, La Grande got a massive performance out of Peyton Daggett, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Marti Anderson, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

The victory keeps La Grande at an undefeated 7-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.6 runs this season. As for Gladstone, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Coming up, La Grande will take on Fruitland at 11:00 a.m. on April 5. As for Gladstone, they will face off against Newport at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Newport has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.75 runs per game on average), something Gladstone will no doubt try to take advantage of.
