Baseball Game Preview: Perkiomen School Panthers vs. Malvern Prep Friars

Perkiomen School hasn't had much luck against Malvern Prep recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Friars at 12:00 p.m.

Perkiomen School can't be too happy about their upcoming road contest considering what happened when they opened their season away from home back in March. They fell 4-1 to Central Bucks East.

Perkiomen School saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Tucholski, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Malvern Prep had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Jaguars. The result was nothing new for the Friars, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Jalen Bowman looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Chase Ecker and Jackson Melconian did most of the damage at the plate: Ecker scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Melconian scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Ecker also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cole Scarbinsky, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Perkiomen School might still be hurting after the 13-4 defeat they got from Malvern Prep when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
