Softball Recap: Valley Falls Makes It Nine in a Row at Home

Valley Falls had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Atchison County on Friday. The Dragons never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 17-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Abby Wilson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Wilson was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Valley Falls got a massive performance out of Jayden Senn, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs Senn has posted over her last five matches. Cassidy Frakes was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one run.

Valley Falls kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive contests.

Valley Falls' victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.2 runs over those games. As for Atchison County, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.
