III Southern recap September 24, 2013

White Pine fell to Laughlin 50-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.

The Cougars led III Southern in scoring this week after putting up 50 points on the Bobcats.

Jacob Gleason and Bryson Navallo gave Meadows a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Gleason threw for 81 yards, while Navallo ran for 189 yards. Jack Berkley also contributed to the rushing game with 66 yards on the ground.

Gleason and Navallo gave the Mustangs a balanced attack through the air and ground last week.

Derek Wagstaff was the best wideout in the league this week as Needles bested Calvary Chapel Christian. Wagstaff racked up 2 receptions for 30 yards.

Gleason put up the best numbers through the air as Meadows bested Lincoln County. Gleason's favorite target this week was Matt Biafore, who caught 3 passes for 36 yards.

Navallo was the best running back in the league this week.

Navallo provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Frank DeSantis' team topped the Lynx.

Meadows' offense cannot be tamed this season and the Mustangs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Gleason has thrown for 295 yards and 3 touchdowns this season, while Ethan Fridman has 5 catches for 74 yards.

A big matchup in III Southern this week will be when Agassi Prep takes on the Mustangs. As it stands, Agassi Prep is in second, while Needles is in third.

Mountain View Christian made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,580 from 10,383. The improvement came about via a 18-14 victory over Ben Fermon's team last week.
