Basketball Recap: Udall Eagles vs. Flinthills Mustangs
The Udall Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Flinthills. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Udall in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost four in a row.
Udall lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jenson Harness, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Isaac Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Udall smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Flinthills' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jake Hunter led the charge by scoring 25 points along with six steals. Hunter hasn't dropped below three steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Shane Steinhauer, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Udall dropped their record down to 3-9 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Flinthills, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Udall will face off against the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Haven is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
