Recap: Toll Gate Titans vs. North Smithfield Northmen
On Monday, the Toll Gate Titans faced the North Smithfield Northmen in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Toll Gate fell 43-35 to North Smithfield. Toll Gate was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as North Smithfield apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Leading North Smithfield to victory were Raeghan Reilly and Ava O'Neill. Reilly scored 15 points along with five rebounds, while O'Neill scored eight points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that O'Neill posted eight or more assists. Bryson Murray was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds.
Toll Gate's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for North Smithfield, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Toll Gate will head out on the road to face off against Pilgrim at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (Pilgrim is ranked 29th, while Toll Gate is ranked 20th). As for North Smithfield, they will be playing at home against Burrillville at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
