Baseball Game Preview: Cheatham County Central Cubs vs. Sycamore War Eagles

For the second straight game, Cheatham County Central will face off against Sycamore. The Cubs will challenge the War Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Cheatham County Central has struggled recently with 18 losses in a row, while Sycamore will arrive with five straight wins.

Monday just wasn't the day for Cheatham County Central's offense. They came up short against Sycamore on Monday, falling 10-0.

For Sycamore's part, Drake Perry made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Perry also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Sycamore is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-12 otherwise. Perry was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyler Perkins, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Sycamore's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 5-12 when he doesn't). Nolan McVay also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Sycamore's record now sits at 8-13. As for Cheatham County Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-15.
