Softball Preview: Sayreville Bombers vs. Woodbridge Barrons
The Sayreville Bombers will head out on the road to face off against the Woodbridge Barrons at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Sayreville's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Woodbridge's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Sayreville is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering East Brunswick just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Bears by a score of 4-3.
Woodbridge not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 8th (when they won 15-0). They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over J.P. Stevens. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Barrons considering their two-run performance the game before.
Madelyn Brenner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since April 1st.
