Softball Recap: Encinal Comes Up Short

After flying high against Mt. Eden on Thursday, Encinal came back down to earth. The Jets took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Castro Valley Trojans on Friday. The Jets have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Cameron Tran spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Emiko Takemoto and Jaydah Tautalatasi - Robinson did some serious damage despite the final result: Takemoto got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI and one double, while Tautalatasi - Robinson went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Encinal now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Castro Valley, they pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Encinal wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 10-9 victory against El Cerrito on the 2nd. As for Castro Valley, they have also already played their next game, a 13-2 win against San Leandro on the 4th.
