Basketball Recap: Evant Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Evant unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 58-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lometa Hornets on Tuesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it ten in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Evant lost, don't look at Cooper Standford. Despite the final result, he went 7-for-11 on his way to 24 points and six boards. Matthew Santiago was another key player, putting up five points.

Looking ahead, Evant is headed away from home for the first time to square off against Loraine at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lometa, they will host San Saba at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
