Softball Game Recap: Pennfield Panthers vs. Kalamazoo Christian Comets

Pennfield had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-4 to make it eight. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 16-1 to the Kalamazoo Christian Comets, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Comets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-1 on Thursday.

As for Kalamazoo Christian, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 9-0. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Kalamazoo Christian's part, they let Madalyn Vlietstra and Carien Ybema run wild. Vlietstra went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Ybema went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Cora Vander Kley also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pennfield will take on Hillsdale at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Kalamazoo Christian, they will venture away from home to square off against Wayland at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
