Baseball Game Preview: Meeker Cowboys vs. North Fork Miners

Meeker is 0-10 against North Fork since May of 2018 but things could change on Saturday. The Cowboys will be playing in front of their home fans against the Miners at 11:00 a.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

While Meeker's victory against Olathe wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cowboys' pitcher stepped up to hand the Pirates a 1-0 shutout on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cowboys have posted since May 18, 2024.

The result came thanks to Carson Klinzmann's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks. He has become a key player for Meeker: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 4-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Meeker saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hoyt Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for North Fork, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Roaring Fork on Tuesday.

North Fork's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Meeker, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-13.
