Softball Recap: Gaston Christian's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

Gaston Christian came into Tuesday's matchup having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out Concord Academy 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Gaston Christian has posted against Concord Academy since April 20, 2021.

Kenedy Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 18 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Miller was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Bailey Livengood and Lana Hanson did most of the damage at the plate: Livengood scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Hanson went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one triple. Those three runs gave Livengood a new career-high.

Gaston Christian picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Concord Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Gaston Christian is taking a road trip to face off against Greater Cabarrus S at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Concord Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Metrolina Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
