Oak Level Baptist Academy and Union Grove Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Conquerors will square off against the Patriots at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Oak Level Baptist Academy sitting on six straight wins and Union Grove Christian on five.
Oak Level Baptist Academy had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Salem Baptist Christian on Tuesday. The Conquerors' pitchers stepped up to hand the Vikings a 17-0 shutout. Considering the Conquerors have won five games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Haley Inman made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Summer Walker was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Walker, who earned two runs and three stolen bases.
Oak Level Baptist Academy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.
Union Grove Christian came out on top against Triad Baptist Christian Academy on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Patriots blew past the Titans 12-1. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won eight contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Morgan Donovant was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Donovant was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Union Grove Christian got a big performance out of Maddy McDaniel, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Bethany Yarbrough was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Oak Level Baptist Academy's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Union Grove Christian, their record is now 11-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Oak Level Baptist Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Union Grove Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Oak Level Baptist Academy couldn't quite finish off Union Grove Christian in their previous meeting back in March and fell 2-0. Can the Conquerors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
