Baseball Recap: Elk Grove Comes Up Short

Elk Grove was the 7-2 winner over Buffalo Grove when they last played one another on Monday, but their luck changed this time around. The Grenadiers took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bison on Wednesday.

Isaac Santowski put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

Santowski wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Casterton, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Elk Grove dropped their record down to 8-18 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Buffalo Grove, their record is now 8-21-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elk Grove will square off against Fremd at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Buffalo Grove, they will take on Conant at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Bison are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
