The Ridgeland-Hardeeville Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 73-46 loss at the hands of Woodland. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ridgeland-Hardeeville in their matchups with Woodland: they've now lost six in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Ridgeland-Hardeeville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jabien Harris. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Poncie Capers was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two blocks.
Woodland was led to victory by Tyree Edwards and JaKease Salley. Edwards dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Salley dropped a double-double on 31 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Salley has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jaquan Walker, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Ridgeland-Hardeeville has not been sharp recently as the team has lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Woodland, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Hampton County the next time they take the court. Ridgeland-Hardeeville will head out to face Hampton County at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Woodland will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
