Softball Game Preview: Riverside Pirates vs. Houston Wildcats

The Riverside Pirates will face off against the Houston Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Riverside has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Monday, Riverside didn't have quite enough to beat Lehman Catholic and fell 8-7.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Houston's offense. They lost 6-0 to Arcanum on Saturday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Makenna Vondenhuevel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Riverside's loss dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Houston, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-9.

Riverside beat Houston 7-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2018. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
