Basketball Game Preview: Viera Hawks vs. Palm Bay Pirates

The Viera Hawks will take on the Palm Bay Pirates in a tournament on Wednesday. Viera has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Viera will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Viera enjoyed a cozy 73-57 win over Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy on Monday. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Tigers are ranked 255th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Palm Bay came up short against Port St. Lucie on Monday and fell 59-50.

Viera's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points per game. As for Palm Bay, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Viera against Palm Bay in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 96-49 win. In that matchup, Viera amassed a halftime lead of 58-23, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
