Basketball Preview: Alvin Yellowjackets vs. Alief Elsik Rams
The Alvin Yellowjackets will head out on the road to challenge the Alief Elsik Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Alvin is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Last Saturday, Alvin had to suffer through a rough 70-32 loss at the hands of the Sharks. Alvin has struggled against the Sharks recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Alief Elsik came into Saturday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They enjoyed a cozy 53-37 victory over Alief Hastings on Saturday. The win was just what Alief Elsik needed coming off of a 66-43 defeat in their prior contest.
David Uwalaka continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Trenton Scott, who scored five points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Alvin has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-21 record this season. As for Alief Elsik, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-17.
Things could have been worse for Alvin, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-40 loss to the Rams in their previous matchup back in January. Can Alvin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
