Basketball Recap: Cassville Comes Up Short

Cassville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-51 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mt. Vernon Mountaineers. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 388th, while the Mountaineers are ranked 187th).

Cassville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Mt. Vernon, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cassville will head out to take on Southwest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mt. Vernon, they will square off against Seneca at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
