Basketball Recap: Joel Trujillo and Tobias Jean-Louis Secure Win for East Lee County

East Lee County hadn't done well against Estero recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The East Lee County Jaguars were the clear victor by a 74-51 margin over the Estero Wildcats. That 23 point margin sets a new team best for the Jaguars this season.

Leading East Lee County to victory were Tobias Jean-Louis and Joel Trujillo. Jean-Louis went 7 of 11 on his way to 16 points in addition to six boards and six steals, while Trujillo went 7 for 14 en route to 19 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Trujillo a new career-high in assists (three). Gage Chin was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

East Lee County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in nine consecutive matchups.

East Lee County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points per game. As for Estero, they dropped their record down to 8-11 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

East Lee County will take on Palmetto Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Palmetto Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.1 points per game this season. As for Estero, they will face off against Naples at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th.
