Softball Preview: El Reno Indians vs. Piedmont Wildcats
El Reno hasn't had much luck against Piedmont recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The El Reno Indians will head out to challenge the Piedmont Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
El Reno took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Noble by a score of 10-6.
Meanwhile, Piedmont entered their tilt with Carl Albert on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victor by a 14-6 margin over the Titans. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Addison Underwood tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Piedmont got a massive performance out of A Emmert, who went 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The dominant performance gave Emmert a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Cassady, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
El Reno's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. As for Piedmont, their record is now 17-4.
