If Oceanside Collegiate Academy beats Legion Collegiate Academy with 15 runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Oceanside Collegiate Academy didn't even let North Charleston on the board on Tuesday, marking Oceanside Collegiate Academy's second-straight 15-0 shutout. The Landsharks haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Conrad Stabene looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Tanner Fleming was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He also brought in two RBI, marking his first of the season. Henry Elizondo was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Oceanside Collegiate Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Legion Collegiate Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Carmel Christian on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 11-10.
Legion Collegiate Academy also got a good showing from Ben Lee, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Lee a new career-high in strikeouts (two).
At the plate, Andres Lopez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Another player making a difference was DJ Douglas, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.
Oceanside Collegiate Academy's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Oceanside Collegiate Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Legion Collegiate Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Oceanside Collegiate Academy suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Legion Collegiate Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Oceanside Collegiate Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
