Softball Game Preview: American Heritage Patriots vs. South Plantation Paladins

The American Heritage Patriots will square off against the South Plantation Paladins at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as American Heritage comes in on three and South Plantation on four.

American Heritage's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They came out on top against Coral Glades by a score of 5-0.

Lyric Rodriguez made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Adrianna Layne was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Arianna Reynolds was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

American Heritage hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coral Glades struck out ten times.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but South Plantation ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past Cooper City 18-17.

American Heritage's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for South Plantation, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.
