Basketball Recap: Hatch Valley Comes Up Short

Hatch Valley lost against Mesilla Valley Christian School back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hatch Valley Bears might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Mesilla Valley Christian School SonBlazers an easy 63-43 win. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the SonBlazers are ranked 27th).

This is the second loss in a row for Hatch Valley and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for Mesilla Valley Christian School, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Hatch Valley will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Ruidoso at 7:00 p.m. on January 14, 2025. Mesilla Valley Christian School will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against Legacy Academy at 4:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025. Legacy Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.8 points per game this season.
