Meanwhile, it may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Nebraska City ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Lincoln Lutheran/Raymond Central/Parkview Christian 3-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Nebraska City as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Waverly, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Everything went Waverly's way against Nebraska City in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Waverly made off with a 4-0 victory. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Pioneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
