Volleyball Recap: Scituate Comes Up Short

Scituate was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Durfee Hilltoppers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hilltoppers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 two weeks ago.

While Scituate was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-17, 25-15.

Their offense was headlined by Cole Laivins and FeiFan (DJ) Li, who picked up eight kills apiece. They got some help from Caleb Foley and his 16 assists.

Leading Durfee to victory were Jhovani Montalvan and Seamus Riley. Montalvan had ten digs and two aces, while Riley had eight digs and two aces. That's the most aces Riley has posted since back in April.

Scituate's loss dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Durfee, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.

Scituate wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Hingham on the 13th. As for Durfee, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 loss against Randolph on the 13th.
