Softball Game Preview: Woodhaven Warriors vs. Stoney Creek Cougars

The Woodhaven Warriors will square off against the Stoney Creek Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Stoney Creek will be up against a hot Woodhaven team: the squad just extended their winning streak to ten. The Warriors never let Riverview get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Saturday.

The result came thanks to Natilee Pridemore's shutout, as she gave up just eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ariel Krueger was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Zoie Klavinger was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Woodhaven hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in ten consecutive contests.

Stoney Creek came out on top against Notre Dame Prep on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Cougars put the hurt on the Fighting Irish with a sharp 12-2 victory.

Woodhaven's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Stoney Creek, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Woodhaven skirted past Stoney Creek 2-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2021. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
